Here’s a nice little brain teaser.

There are three things that I can tell you about this game that involves 5 dices:

- The name of the game is
**Petals Around the Rose**, and that name is important.
- The answer to each roll can be either zero or an even number.
- I can also tell you the answer to each roll.

And that’s all the information that you need to figure out the logic behind this game – i.e. figure out how the answers are derived.

Below are ten sample rolls of dices with answers to each roll.

Roll #1

The answer is two.

Roll #2

The answer is eight.

Roll #3

The answer is fourteen.

Roll #4

The answer is zero.

Roll #5

The answer is four.

Roll #6

The answer is four again.

Roll #7

The answer is two.

Roll #8

The answer is ten.

Roll #9

The answer is six.

Roll #10

The answer is twelve.

Can you figure out what’s going on? It took me almost an hour to figure out the answer to this puzzle, and then I proudly joined the Fraternity of Petals Around the Rose! 🙂

Follow this link if you want to see some more such sample rolls, and also read what happened when **Bill Gates** was introduced to this puzzle in 1977.
